Active again

Hi all.  I have not been very active lately.  I got some inspiration form a friend and am now making an upcycled duffle bag from a sail.  Pictures to follow when I get it done.

Active again

Hi all.  Have been not so active lately.  I got inspired from a friend and am making a large duffle with recycled  sails.   I will post photos when finished.

July 21

I made two fronts for new totes this week.  It is difficult to find time to sew when one has a full time job. Will have more to come in the following days.

so long

Sorry it has been so long since I last wrote.  All sorts of drama and stuff went on in the last few months.  I got a call a few weeks ago from a local sail maker who was saving scraps from colorful sails for me.  So off I went with my son to to accompany me to retrieve the scraps.  Got them home and found that I had hit paydirt.  I haven’t made anything yet though.

Small sail picture

small sail

This is the sail from my friends.  The other oner from the marina was much bigger and thicker as it was from a larger sailboat and I think from the main sail.

done

Good morning.  Last night I finished 2 small upcycled denim handbags.  They were created from girls jeans and the second was designed by my 11 year old daughter.  I can’t wait to get the pictures up.  Later today as I first need coffee.

finished

Good morning.  So happy it is Saturday.  Yesterday I finished 2 small upcycled denim handbags.  Can’t wait to post pictures later today. Must have coffee first though.  I checked out some other sewing talent online and there are some pretty great things out there.  I will continue to upcycle and anyone who is interested in donating sails will receive a free tote bag as thanks.

sails

I have cleaned the last sail I received from a friend and it is much thinner and easier to work with.  The previous sail was from an ocean-going large sail boat and was very thick.  Therefore, those will be tote bags and not messenger bags.  I am excited to see what will be created from this last sail.  Stay tuned…

thinking

Hi all.  I was just thinking how to find my niche in this world (as far as sewing is concerned).  Then I thought,  The last sail I scored was from a dumpster.  That was a lot to throw away.  My goal is to make something usefull from something unwanted.

So, now that I wrote it for anyone to see, that will be my ultimate goal.  The sails will become totes of various sizes and denim will be cute handbags and book bags and messenger bags.

I am almost ready to sell some of the items I create.  I want to have a good stock first.

I will keep posting pictures and updating as I get projects completed.  I think telling people will make me more accountable.
